United States President Barack Obama signed Executive Order 13567 on March 7, 2011.〔 〕〔 〕〔 〕 Its purpose was to establish: : Executive Order 13567 is a follow on to Executive Order 13492 and Executive Order 13493 executive orders Obama signed on January 21, 2009, the day after he assumed office.〔〔 Those executive orders were intended to review which Guantanamo detainees should be released. The Guantanamo Joint Task Force those executive orders set up reviewed the detainees, and recommended that a first group of detainees should be tried, a second group of detainees should be released, and compiled a list of a third group of detainees who should neither be released or charged.
